Der zweitletzte Garten auf unserer diesjährigen Schottlandreise im Mai hat mich ganz besonders beeindruckt. Ich meine dami Pitmuies Gardens (in Guthrie, Nähe Forfar, Angus), ein sogenannter „country garden“. War der Grund vielleicht seine überschaubare Grösse, seine bunt blühende Artenvielfalt oder die harmonische Gliederung der verschiedenen Gartenräume? Schwer zu sagen. Leider hatten wir für diesen Garten nicht so viel Zeit wie er es verdient und ich es gerne gehabt hätte. Ich habe dann erst später auf dem gekauften Gartenplan gesehen, was wir alles verpasst hatten. Next time!!!
Der Eingang zum Garten war schon sehr einladend. Ich hatte das Gefühl, als wäre ich zu Besuch bei Freunden und würde nun einen kleinen Spaziergang in deren Privatgarten machen.
Eingang zum Gartenteil „Alpine Meadow“, einer Art Wildwiese (wo früher die Wäsche getrocknet wurde, da das Waschhaus in unmittelbarer Nähe ist), mit vielen Strauchrosen, Buddleias, Birnbäumen , Lilien usw. Von dort wäre ein Weg zum Vinny Garden gegangen, den wir leider nicht gesehen haben (es fing an zu regnen und wir waren in Zeitnot).
Der „walled garden“ zeigt in Pitmuies recht schmale Beete, die – wie könnte es anders sein – abwechslungsreich und vorallem in den Farben grün/weiss/silber bepflanzt sind.

What gorgeous pictures of the Pitmuies Gardens, Scotland. Isn’t that conservatory one to die for? It tucks so well in the corner of the house. I love the 6th picture down too, with the beautifully shaped railings and the white open gate. Terrific pictures.
Its a cloudy morning here in Wales. I checked the live web-cam in Gruyere just now http://www.pave-gruyeres.ch/webcam/default.htm, it looks a bit damp with low cloud too! But totally enchanting just the same.

It was nice to read your comment. I found the name for the Paradise lily you were asking, its Paradisia liliastrum (latin name). We can have very cold weeks in winter, even -30. So my green house isnt a guarantee that my plants survive inside. Thats why I carry all those important plants in to the cellar. (Like Endless Summer and some of the Clematis which I keep in pot.)
