Diesen Sommer war die Rosenblüte eigentlich nicht sehr üppig. Vielleicht lag es auch daran, dass nicht alle meine Rosen mit Hornspänen versorgt und eigentlich insgesamt von mir etwas vernachlässigt wurden. Die Nachblüte hat sich etwas verzögert, bedingt auch durch das schlechte Wetter und dennoch bin ich jetzt wiederum erstaunt, wieviele Rosen im November noch blühen und Knöpfe haben (oben „The Fairy„, die im Herbst immer ein etwas dunkleres Rosa hat als im Sommer).
This summer wasn’t a very good rose year in my garden. Maybe it was my fault too, because I didn’t manage to feed all my roses with horn chips in Spring and all in all, I neglected them a little this year. The second rose bloom was delayed, probably also due to the bad weather conditions here. Nevertheless, I am astonished as every year how many roses actually are blooming or still having some buds (above „The Fairy„, which always gets a darker pink in autumn).
Natürlich ist es kein Blütenreichtum mehr, aber für kleinere Sträusschen reicht es noch allemal ( „Pink Fairy„).
Of course there aren’t so many flowers now, but I still manage to make little bouquets („Pink Fairy“).

Die unverwüstliche „Leonardo da Vinci“, zwar ohne Duft, aber zuverlässig was die Gesundheit angeht.

Diese „Superstar“ habe ich noch aus meinem Schrebergarten vor über 25 Jahren gezügelt.

Am Trauerhochstamm „Paul Noël“ zeigt sich noch eine letzte Blüte.

Verschiedene Rosenknöpfe, die sich wahrscheinlich nicht mehr öffnen werden (von oben nach unten, „Queen Elizabeth“ eine no-name Rose und „Schneewittchen“).

„Evelyn“ verströmt immer noch einen betörenden Duft und „Astrid Lindgren“ (2. Bild) . Letztere habe ich gepflanzt, weil ich wie meine Kinder die Bücher der Autorin so gerne las. Ausserdem ist sie eine sehr wüchsige, reich blühende, ganz leicht duftende und gesunde Rose.
„Evelyn“ which still has a delightful fragrance and „Astrid Lindgren“ (2nd picture). I planted the last mentioned rose because my children and I loved to read her books. Besides, it is an easy growing, healthy rose with a lot of blooms and a very fine perfume.
„Westerland“ zeigt auch noch, wie zäh sie ist, obwohl sie ohne Blätter dasteht.
Even „Westerland“ wants to show its tenacity despite the lack of leaves.
„Stanwell Perpetual“ ist jedes Jahr eine der ersten Rosen die in meinem Garten im Frühling blüht. Vielleicht will sie nun auch noch zu den letzten gehören 😉 ! Im Herbst bekommt sie ein zartes Rosa, im Sommer aber ist sie fast weiss. Sie zählt zu meinen Lieblingsrosen.
Almost every year „Stanwell Perpetual“ is one of the first roses to bloom in my garden. Perhaps this rose now also wants to be the last one to do so 😉 ! In summer it has quite a white bloom and in autumn it turns to a light pink. This rose belongs to my favourites.
Eine Ramblerrose, deren Namen ich vergessen habe und welche entlang des Zaunes von einem Nachbarn wächst. Wir selbst haben keine Zäune und deshalb bin ich froh, dass ich die Nachbarszäune nutzen darf….und beide Parteien haben etwas davon.
A rambler rose whose name I forgot and which is growing on the fence of a neighbour. We do not have any fences therefore I am glad that the neighbour gave the permission to use his as a little help for my roses….and both sides enjoy the blooms.
„William Shakespeare“ macht sich immer gut als einzelne, lange Rose in einer Vase. Auch zu dieser Jahreszeit.
„William Shakespeare“ is the ideal rose for using as a single flower in a vase. Even at this time of the year.
Ein aus einem Steckling gemachter Rosenstrauch, dessen Namen ich auch nicht kenne. Sie hat keinen Duft, ist aber ideal für das Binden kleiner Sträusschen. Sie nimmt es mir auch nicht übel, dass sie unter einem Baum stehen muss und nur wenig Sonne abbekommt.
I don’t know the name of this little rose shrub which I made from a cutting. The rose doesn’t have a fragrance but is wonderful for little bouquets. And the plant doesn’t blame me for the bad growing place below a tree and the little sun it gets there.
Eine meiner Nachbarinnen hat mir schon mehrmals Pflanzen gebracht, die bei ihr kränkeln oder nicht so recht gedeihen wollten. Da ich ja keine Pflanzen fortwerfen kann und gerne aufpäppele, habe ich auch diese Rose genommen. Sie hat sich diesen Sommer wunderbar entwickelt und blüht jetzt noch am Zaun zur Nachbarin….aber auf meiner Seite!! Es ist, wie ich festgestellt habe eine „New Dawn“.
On several occasions one of my neighbours gave me plants which were a little ill or didn’t want to grow properly. And as I cannot throw any plants away and like to take care of such problem plants, I also took this rose. During summer it grew quite well and now it is still blooming on the fence of the neighbour…but on my side of the garden!! I think it is a „New Dawn„.
„Heidetraum“ verführt mich zu Träumen von noch vielen rosigen Blüten!

Snap……sagt man wohl auf Englisch, wenn zwei Personen dasgleiche zur selben Zeit sagen. Wir haben mit leichter zeitlicher Versetzung den gleichen Titel im Blog für unsere Rosen im November gewählt! Allerdings muss ich sagen, dass es bei dir noch sehr üppig aussieht!

Da meint man doch glatt, dass noch Sommer wäre! Meine Rosen haben sich schon alle verabschiedet, das liegt vielleicht auch daran ,dass unser Garten am Oktober durch das Nachbarhaus überhaupt keine Sonne mehr abbekommt! Dafür schieben die Christrosen schon ihre ersten Blüten, sind halt ein bisschen andere Rosen 🙂

Wie schön, dass bei dir noch so viele Rosen blühen. Ich glaube dieses Jahr war generell kein Rosenjahr, denn meine haben im Mai so gut wie gar nicht geblüht, dafür aber im September nocheinmal ein wenig nachgeblüht. Heute habe ich noch eine Blüte entdeckt, eine Falstaff. Sonst ist es vorbei für dieses Jahr. Zum Glück kann ich mich noch an deinen Bildern erfreuen!

Barbara: We must have the Rose Fairy working with us because I also have many roses still ((BLOOMING)) in my garden! With leaves fallen and the garden cleaned bare…my roses continue to smile as yours do!

So many beautiful roses in November, you’re lucky, it’s so nice to have the possibility of having roses bouquet in the house. I don’t think the last rose is a New Dawn, the New Dawn has big white-yellowish flowers ,it grows very high, it’s a huge climbing rose tree, I would love to have a New Dawn in my garden, it’s why I know it so well.
Salü Barbara, was für schöne Rosenknöpfe! Die würde ich alle abschneiden und als herrlichen Strauss mit ins Wohnzimmer nehmen.

da kann ich Dir nur zustimmen, mein Rosenjahr war heuer auch nicht so üppig und die zweite Blüte ist seltsamerweise weitgehend ausgefallen. Aber trotzdem erfreut man sich an jeder der späten Blüten.

Ah… you have some great blooms here for ‚a bad year for the roses‘. You do have a lot of roses though so if you say it has been a bad year in your garden I do believe you 🙂
Funnily enough, my handful of roses didn’t perform at all this year with no flowers at all. I know I moved one but the other three (two new climbing ones) didn’t show a single bud. Any ideas on what I should do for next year? The new ones have very healthy looking foliage.

bei dir blühen ja noch erstaunlich viele Rosen und du hast so wunderschöne Sorten dabei…die Stanwell Perpetual ist ja ein Traum! Kein Wunder, dass du sie sehr magst.
Einige Blüten gibt es hier auch noch zu sehen, meistens sind es die sog. kleinblütigen Rosen, die oft bis zum ersten Frost blühen. The Fairy und Heidetraum sind da bei mir auch immer dabei. 😉

Sali, liebe Barbara. die Rosen begluecken dich aber lange dieses Jahr. Pink Fairy ist ja wirklich feenhaft mit ihren kleinen Blueten.
Superstar tut ihrem Namen alle Ehre. Ich liebe „weeping“ plants sie sind so anmutig. Schneewittchen ist hier Iceberg. Ich mache immer Stecklinge im Winter von dieser. Es gibt noch eine rosarote und eine dunklere rote Sorte welche auch sehr schoen sind. Ja, Astrid Lindgren bringt Erinnerungen an glueckliche Lesestunden. Die Kinder liebten „die Kinder von Bullerbue und natuerlich Pippi Langstrumpf war ein hit. Stanwell Perpetual ist lieblich wie sie die Farbe wechselt. Die gelbe Rambler Rose sieht aus wie meine rosa Cecil Brunner wenn sie ganz offen ist. New Dawn kann manchmal problematisch sein, aber bei Leuten mit Rosenfinger tut sie gut;
aus dem Munde der Rosenkinder. Heidetraum sagt ja alles mit ihrem Namen. Ich hoffe, dass deine Rosenkinder noch lange in den Herbst hinein bluehen. Liebe Gruesse Trudi.

Ein paar Rosenblüten habe ich noch, es sind kanadische Explorer Rosen. Sie ertragen kaltes Wetter, etwas Schnee und Frost.

Nice photos, thanks for sharing! I worked hard in my garden last summer, moved a climbing yellow rose bush to a south facing wall… it looked dead until very recently when it grew three new branches! Best regards, f r a n k i e
What a wonderful treat this post of yours about roses in flower in November. Like you, I love roses and are able to enjoy them for quite a long time each year. But come November fewer and fewer have blooms and the flowers they have are not in such abundant quantities anymore but …… I think I like those few roses just as much, if not more, than the profusion of blooms during summer.

Meine letzten Rosen und Rosenknospen sind wieder einmal von den Hirschen gefressen worden…! Ich muss noch herausfinden, wie sie auch bei geschlossenem Gartentor hereinkommen. Der Gartenhag ist 2 Meter hoch!!!

Frost has come here, so no more flowers.
While I was away in India my husband moved all pots indoors, to a coldroom in the basement. I went there last night to see if I needed to do some watering, and I was surpised to find alot of plants blooming. Now I have a pelarginium bouquet on the diningroom table.
Cara Barbara puoi essere orgogliosa dei tuoi figli. Qui da noi non se ne vedono tanto di uomini così. Forse è diverso negli uomini più giovani. Lo spero tanto. Forse però è anche una questione culturale. Gli uomini della mia generazione sono ancora alla ricerca di una donna che non metta in discussione la loro „posizione“ e soprattutto mi sembrano uomini molto fragili e poco equilibrati. Io ho avuto solo figlie femmine. Chissà se sarei stata una brava mamma per dei maschi? Credo che esserlo non sia facile, quindi ti faccio i miei complimenti!

Stanwell Perpetual goes to my shopping list! I need to buy few roses to my young rosario. I like light pink and whites, but also light yellow gives nice light in to rosebeds.
I have one „black“ rose called ‚Nuits de Young‘. Luckily some of my garden friends loves roses so I can have small bits of their roses..

Those last blooms are precious, knowing we won’t see any for about half a year! You have a beautiful collection of roses. I notice, like me, you are very partial to pink 🙂
We planted our first climber last autumn (Social Climber – pink) and it grew well this year. We still need to provide something for it to climb on. I’m hoping to see it covered in blooms next year.
Now we have snow on the ground and cold temperatures….and so begins the long wait for spring 🙂 Time to dream of what we’ll plant in the garden next year!
